The purpose of Art in Action is to give the students of NMU something to do that is not a voyeuristic activity. Watching movies, plays, and concerts may fill your evening, but what does it do for your mind, your soul, or your community? By making art into action, we are giving students a substance-free, mind-enriching activity for their Friday night, and showing that art is not just a painting in a gallery, it can be every moment of your life, if you so choose to live as such. Art in Action is about revolutionizing the way that students look at Marquette. It's often said that, aside for the outdoors, there is nothing to do here. To a point, we agree. The voyeuristic events made by other groups are only so fun for so long. We are here to show that you can make something to do simply by expressing yourself, that life is art, so long as you're willing to create it, it can be created. |
