2009 Summer College for Kids

Week long enrichment classes for students in grades K-8.
  The cost of most sessions is $55 per child.
Sessions with daily field trips are $65 to help defray transportation expenses.

June 22-26

        Morning Sessions  9 a.m. - noon.

       
K - 2nd grade  Discovery Bottles:  Use pop bottles to discover science.
            Grade 3 - 5  Earth Materials:  Investigate rocks, minerals & landscapes.
            Grade 5-8  Beginning Robotics:  Build and program LEGO Mindstorms.
         Grade 6-8  Cooking Camp: Learn the art of cooking techniques and more.

        Afternoon Sessions  1 - 4 p.m.
            K - 2nd grade  Science Matters:  Solids & Liquids & Gases, Oh My!.
            Grade 3 - 5   The Solution is:  Test your skills solving science problems.
           Grade 6 - 8  Welcome to my Laboratory:  Investigate the science of chemistry.

        Morning Session 9 a.m. - noon.
            K & 1st grade  Going Green/Earth Matters:  Learn to protect our environment.
            Grade 3-5  Beginning Robotics 2:  Build and Program LEGO Mindstorms. 
            Grade 5-7  Slip, Slither, and Slide into Science:  Dress for guaranteed messy science
        Also available - Cow-onomics economics camp
         

        Afternoon Sessions: 1 - 4 p.m.
            K - 2nd grade  Water, Water, Everywhere:  Investigate types of water on our Earth.
            Grade  3- 5 *Turtles and Toads1:  Daily field trips to find amphibians/reptiles.
            Grade 5-7 I Dare you to Explain This! Science investigations to solve unknowns.
         

July 13-17

       Morning Sessions:  9:00 -noon.
           K & 2nd grade  Build it Festival: Design and build structures.
           Grade 3-5  Biology & Baskets:  Investigate the trees of basket making. 
          Grade 6-8  Robot Challenges:  Test your programming skills on the mat.
         Also available - Pod-onomics econmics camp and Drawing Camp

       Afternoon Sessions: 1 - 4 p.m.
           K-2nd grade Simple Machines with LEGOs:  Make work easier wit LEGO machines.
           Grade 3-5   *Turtles and Toads 2:  Daily field trips to find amphibians/reptiles.

           Grade 3-5   The Body Detective Agency:  Learn about your body systems.
           Grade 6-8  Rockets Red Glare:  Build and test rockets.

           K - 2nd grade  Elephant Families:  How elephants live and care for young.
           Grade 3 - 5  Fun in the Sun:  Learn about the power of the sun.

           Grade 6-8  Under Your Skin:  Investigate the systems in your body.

July 27-31

          Grade 3 - 5   Ecosystems:  Understanding ecological principles.
          Grade 6 - 8   Advanced Robotics Challenges:  Design and test robot challenges.

      Afternoon Sessions: 1-4 p.m. 
          
K - 2nd grade   Under Construction:  Materials + Tools + Design = Structures.
         Grade 3-5   Michigan's Most Unwanted:  Investigate invasive species.
         Grade 5-8   *Advanced Turtles and Toads:  Daily field trips to find amphibians/reptiles.
