Professional Development

The Glenn T. Seaborg Mathematics and Science Center provides professional development for K-12 educators in Marquette and Alger counties, as well as serving as a regional hub for many Upper Peninsula professional development activities. During the 2006-07 school year, the center hosted 48 professional development sessions: 29 for mathematics, 18 for science and one for technology.

From 2005-2007, the Center participated in a federal Title II, Part B (1), Mathematics and Science Partnership (MSP) Competitive Grant which was awarded to the five Upper Peninsula Mathematics and Science Centers. The grant, known as Building Bridges, provided sustained professional development for middle and high school mathematics teachers.
