EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
Graduation from high school or GED equivalency is preferred. One (1) year of work experience, preferably involving care or supervision of client. Training from a recognized college or university with several courses in social work, psychology, sociology, or a closely related field may substitute for the work experience.

LANGUAGE SKILLS
Ability to read, write, analyze, and interpret to complete all required intervention and goal process documentation by established timeframes. Must write progress reports and clearly communicate to external customers the effectiveness of services. Ability to document in neat, legible, accurate, and objective and consistently reflect the services provided. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of mangers, employees, directors and top management.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as basic math which includes addition, subtraction, division, and percentage as well as money management skills.

REASONING ABILITY
Reading, writing, math skills, problem solving, ability to accept/follow through with direction, recognize boundaries, creative team member who can suggest and implement strategies to enhance the service, patience, self control and flexibility.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS
The incumbent of this position must have a valid Driver’s License. Motor vehicle check (MVR) with a satisfactory driving record required. Must pass a Caregiver Background Check according to program regulations. First Aid training, and CPR Certificate (when required) preferred but may be obtained after hire.

TECHNOLOGY
Able to use technology that is necessary to perform job responsibilities; use available technology effectively (voicemail, computer, printer, photocopier, fax and telephone, and various types of audio visual equipment)

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to frequently bending/stooping, crouching, kneeling and crawling. The position will require the ability to access a variety of residences in the community. May be required to assist with lifting individuals with disabilities who have physical limitations, 30% of time spent standing, 30% of time spent walking and 40% of time spent sitting.

Duties: JOB PURPOSE AND REPORTING STRUCTURE:
Under supervision, performs work involving the care and treatment of clients providing a positive supportive influence, maintains the home; and performs other duties as required.

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
· Supports and cares for clients within established policies and procedures.
· Interacts with clients on an individual or group basis providing guidance and a positive supportive influence.
· Records observations relating to actions and behavior of clients and maintains records and reports as required.
· Assists clients in performing personal hygiene tasks.
· Organizes and distributes clothing, bedding, toilet articles, and other supplies.
· Prepares meals at the home as needed.
· Performs general housekeeping and cleaning duties in the home as needed and operates laundry equipment.
· Transports and escorts clients to meetings, services, appointments, and other activities.
· Supports clients during visitation and educational or recreational activities, and may assist in the planning and operation of the activities.
· May provide limited health care such as administering tube feedings and obtaining of vital signs.
· Assist clients with medication administration to ensure compliance with prescribed dosages and timeframes.
· May purchase supplies and/or groceries for the program.
· Advocates for primary clients in the community.
· Attends staff meetings and participates in training activities as required.
· Provides information concerning the status of clients to social workers and other professionals within established guidelines.
· May administer basic first aid as needed.
· Participates as a member of a quality team and interacts with primary, external, and internal customers of the agency in such as way that the client experiences increasing quality.

OTHER ESSENTIAL KNOWLEDGE AND ABILITIES
· Working knowledge of the home and safety within the program.
· Working knowledge of the rules and regulations governing the deliver of care.
· Working knowledge of basic principles of first aid.
· Working knowledge of behavior, inter-personal relations, and social interaction.
· Ability to serve as a positive role model for clients and provide effective direction and supervision.
· Ability to detect and recognize potentially hazardous situations and take immediate and appropriate action.
