Internships are an excellent way to enhance your in-class learning with hands-on, experiential learning with a company or organization that relates directly to your career goals.
While NMU Career Services does not award academic credit for internships earned (you need to work with your academic department in order to earn credit towards your degree), the center does post internship opportunities with companies, government agencies and non-profit organizations. To begin your search for an internship, click on one of the links below. Once you find an internship in which you're interested, contact your academic department to explore the possibility of earning academic credit.

| Qualifications: | Junior or senior student pursuing a BS/BA degree in wellness, fitness, or related field. Preferred course work in exercise testing and prescription, exercise physiology, and anatomy. Current CPR/AED/First Aid certification from the American Heart Association or American Red Cross, or the ability to become certified. Good communication and interpersonal skills a must. | |||

| Duties: | Corporate Fitness Works currently manages corporate wellness and fitness centers in the following states: Florida, Kansas, Kentucky, Maryland, Massachusetts, Missouri, New York, Pennsylvania, Ohio, Texas, Virginia, Wisconsin and Washington DC. Comprehensive, hands-on internships are offered at all centers during the spring, summer, and fall semesters.
Interns with Corporate Fitness Works have the opportunity to experience many different aspects of the program and facility, such as the following: Customer care Daily operations of the facility Comprehensive fitness assessments Comprehensive health consultation Individualized exercise programming Incentive program development Group exercise class instruction Health promotion programs Fitness and wellness educational materials Health newsletter articles Professional development and networking If you are considering a job in the area of 55+ fitness and wellness, we also have internships available at senior living communities in Maryland, Pennsylvania and Virginia. | |||
