Finding Employees

How do I post a position that I have available?

You may post a position by the following:

How much does it cost to post a position?

Posting a position with our office is completely free of charge.

How long do positions remain on your site?

Full-time positions remain posted until the deadline date has reached. If a deadline date is not indicated, the job remains posted for 30 days.

Internships and summer jobs are posted until the deadline date. If a deadline date is not indicated, the job remains posted until the start date or the employer asks us to remove the position.

Part-time jobs remain posted until the deadline date has reached. If a deadline date is not indicated, we will keep the job posted until the employer informs us to take it down. The employer can call our office (906) 227-2800 to remove the posting. Our office calls employers bi-weekly to ask if they would like us to remove or continue the posting.

I am an area resident in need of a temporary employee. How can I find a temporary student employee?

Please check the list of students that have signed up on our Temporary Employment listing. Students list their experiences, times they are available and contact information.

What job fairs do you host?

How do I sign up for a job fair?

To register to attend one of our job fairs, please complete the form at: www.nmu.edu/jobfairs. You may sign up for more than one job fair with one registration form.

Is there a fee to attend job fairs?

Most of our job fairs are free of charge. There is a $75 fee to attend the Upper Great Lakes Collegiate Job Fair. This fee includes lunch for all members attending.

On-Campus Recruiting

Can I interview students on-campus for a position I have available?

Of course! Our office has the following services and facilities available to employers:

  • Private interview rooms,
  • Advertising your vacancy and collecting resumes prior to your visit,
  • Conference rooms for group testing or information sessions,
  • Distance interview facilities,
  • A full range of audio-visual support.

How do I set up on-campus recruiting?

Employers interested in on-campus interviewing should let Career Services know about their recruiting interest by filling out the on-campus interview form. Please complete the form and e-mail to careers@nmu.edu or fax to (906) 227-2807.
