"American student activism deserves to be carefully studied by those interested in the future and direction of higher education and by those who wish to have a convenient tool to understanding some of the major currents in American history." — Philip Altbach
The intent and goals of student activism in the United States have long been debated. It's Ironic that they should be, since student activism originates from debate. Amid all controversy, one point is certain: The late 1960s and early 1970s was a period of unprecedented revolt and reform. The purpose of this exhibit is to provide a glimpse into student and faculty life during the turmoil of that time, as well as show the struggles those before us endured so that we may have the academic freedom we enjoy today. "Something must be done with these so called student strikes before our country is no longer free." — Mr. and Mrs. Roman Gill
