Scope and Contents note

Mrs. Jeanette Maki founded the Gwinn Area Business Association in 1984. The organization continued under this name until 1997 when it changed to the Gwinn Area Chamber of Commerce. This collection documents the history of both organizations and their effort to stimulate business development in the Gwinn / K.I. Sawyer Air base area. The collection consists of records relating to Chamber activities, such as Fun Daze, UP 200, Our Town, K.I. Sawyer Museum, K.I. Sawyer Base closure and conversion, Christmas Stocking Project, Student of the Month, Community Breakfast on Main Street, and the promotion of tourism. The collection contains correspondences, reports, studies, promotional materials, and publications, such as the Gwinn Quarterly and the Modeltown Messenger. This includes various bills and activity information from Gwinn/Sawyer Area.
